Why I dislike Christmas music.

Yes, you did read that correctly.

Christmas might be my favorite holiday, I love decorating, wrapping gifts, the food, the smell of cinnamon in the morning but I do not like the music attached with it. I will stop leading you on and tell you why now. First off, how come it is the only holiday with its own soundtrack. I haven't heard any artist drop a Thanksgiving mixtape before. Secondly, it is the same songs sung over and over and over again just by different people in different octaves. There really isn't much variety, unless we are talking about Chance the Rapper and Jeremih’s mixtape “Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama.” (I am bit biased. I am from Chicago but this is a very different take on Christmas music). And lastly and the main reason why I dislike Christmas songs is because once November 1st hits, the music is played NONSTOP. Partially because I work in retail but even on radio stations and grocery stores. It seems like everywhere I go the music goes. Don’t even get me started on Christmas Carolers. I already feel awkward when people sing Happy Birthday to me. What about people who do not celebrate Christmas? Is society being courteous to those people as well? It may be apart of the culture to most but to me it is just a couple of songs.
